This cannot be summed up. A full answer is warranted! When we're asked why we utilize Colby dogs as outcrosses for our other working lines, before we reply we simply ask the person asking the question do they know the history of the American Pit Bull Terrier. Some would argue since nearly every purebred APBT pedigree was started with Colby dog contributions that the line could take the credit for the breed's greatness in general but a more valid argument would be to expose the consistency in greatness of many modern game dogs with Colby dog influences within the first 5 generations of their pedigrees. Theirs definitely a pattern that many have missed but the great historic Dog men many who made history were very aware of. A few examples. So when asked why we utilize the oldest, purest APBT line available today the answer to us is a no brainer.

If most of the purest lines around are only about 40 years old or so and are the result of a combination of once different/separate lines fused together and line or inbred over time for the generating of those lines, can one compare what is considered pure in the Colby line which was Exclusively bred mainly with the related specimens from one yard and in the hands of one human family group and their friends for over 120 years to what is considered pure in other lines? In all things equal it would appear to me that what is considered a pure line to others isnít truly pure in comparison just mostly or heavily of the chosen linage. So I would say a half Colby Dog would probably be moreso equivalent to a pure family line (Colby) than what is considered pure in other lines say for example jeep dog etc when held ton the same influential genetics/dna percentages.
